“I don’t think I can do this anymore.”

The look of shock—of hurt—on her face practically undid me.

“We have to go.” I unceremoniously removed her from her lap. I stood and adjusted my board shorts, which were ridiculously strained from my huge, heat-seeking erection. Must. Get. Back. To the palace.

If I didn’t, I was going to slide her bikini bottom over and take her right on the boat for all the paparazzi (and subsequently the rest of the world) to see.

Without a word, I threw on my T-shirt and hustled to start the engine. I immediately headed back for shore. I didn’t care if Cliff and Vivian got jostled below deck—it sounded as though things were being smacked around down there, anyway.

Tarryn glanced back at me, still with that hurt expression on her face. But I couldn’t talk to her. If I said anything, I might blurt out all sorts of things, none of which would be a great idea.

When you’re in my arms, it just feels right.

I take back everything I said about not sleeping with you. Even though I care. Even though I know it’s wrong.

Once isn’t going to be enough.

I wanted her. I wanted her more than I cared about doing what was honorable, what was good, what was right. Some sort of fire had started burning in me, and I knew that no matter what my good intentions were, getting inside of her was inevitable. I had to. We had to.

My cell phone buzzed with a call from security. “Your Highness—is everything all right?”

“Yes, we just need to get back to the palace.”

“Is there some sort of emergency? You’re driving fast.” My guard sounded tense.

“No.” Yes. “I just have some business I need to take care of.”

And it was no one’s damn business but mine.

“I’ll leave a car for you,” I hollered below deck. A minute later, Cliff texted me a thumbs-up sign. He was obviously doing just fine.

I gripped Tarryn’s hand and practically dragged her into the SUV. She was quiet, her eyes wide. She waited until Stellan put up the privacy screen and began navigating toward home before she asked, “What’s the matter?”

I was still holding her hand. I stared at our hands together, and then I looked at her. “I’m not sure.”

That little line appeared between her eyes. “Okay…?”

“I’m worried I’m going to say the wrong thing here.”

She shook her head. Her cheeks were pink from being out on the boat, and she smelled like the ocean. “You don’t have to say anything.” She tried to take her hand back, but I held on for dear life.

I longed to hold her, to kiss her, but I didn’t dare. I needed to get her back inside the palace. Then maybe I could explain…

Maybe I could show her.

We pulled down the drive, and I lowered the screen. “Take us to the side entrance, please, Stellan. I don’t want to get intercepted.”

“Of course, Your Highness.”

The line deepened between Tarryn’s eyes. She probably thought I’d gone mad, and she wasn’t wrong.
